Whilst we pride ourselves on offering a varied selection of quality classic and vintage tractors, every now and then something a little bit different comes along that we simply can’t resist. This is one of those moments.

Tucked away safely within a private collection deep in the depths of Cornwall, this was a truly special find – and something we’d never come across before. Here we have a very special Thames Trader 400E 15cwt panel van.
Adding further character with a proud nodd to its Cornish heritage, this unique van has been restored as a tribute to Truro Tractors, who were the main Fordson and Ford dealers during the period.
The signwriting is outstanding, with the Fordson wheat sheaf logo faithfully recreated on the doors and finished in the correct Fordson blue paint scheme. The attention to detail really sets it apart.
The van was a familiar and much-loved sight at local shows and rallies for many years before being laid up around 14 years ago.
The bodywork is in very good condition overall. There are a couple of small areas of rust on the front valance that will require minor attention, but aside from this the van is very solid throughout.
Mechanically, the petrol engine runs very well, and the column-mounted gear change selects all gears smoothly.

Overall, this is a lovely and highly unusual van that would make a fantastic addition to any Ford or Fordson collection. We would very much like to see it back out where it belongs – on the busy vintage rally scene once again.
