Tamar Vintage Tractors - Austin 1000 Service Van

Following the discontinuation of the Austin A35 van in 1968, British Leyland badged the Morris Minor-based commercial vehicles as Austins for certain dealerships. Here we have a lovely example of one of these Austin service vans.

This van originally came from a local Devon museum, which closed a number of years ago. Following its closure, the owner retained several of the museum’s vehicles in their private collection.

We’ve recently recommissioned the van, carrying out a number of important mechanical improvements. These included having the cylinder head reconditioned and fitted with unleaded valve seats, a new radiator, and a reconditioned gearbox. It’s now ready for its next adventure!

The van runs and drives very well, with the brakes and steering both working as they should.

The underside is clean and free from corrosion. The brakes were replaced during the van’s restoration and have recently been stripped down and checked over.

The paintwork is very presentable. There is some minor micro-blistering on one door, but there are no areas of corrosion of any real concern.

All in all, this is a very solid and genuine little van, ready to be enjoyed and have some fun with.

Comes with current V5.

Based in Tavistock, Devon. Nationwide delivery can be arranged.
