Tamar Vintage Tractors - 1951 International WD9

*Now Sold*

Here we have a cracking original McCormic International WD9.

The WD series of tractors start on petrol and run on diesel run. This unique engine set-up was designed in the early 1940’s, when starter motors were not powerful enough to start a big diesel engine on their own and it also enables it to be started on a handle.

The engine is started by using a carburettor and magneto set-up but with a decompressor lever engaged to lower the compression and allow the engine to start on petrol, the engine is rated at 42hp and is 5.5 litres!

Once warm, after a few minutes, you pull the decompressor forward and open the throttle up, this increases the compression, shuts off the magneto and carb and opens up the injection pump.

This tractor starts very easily on the handle, and it also features an electric start. The starter motor has just been sent away for repair but will be fitted and functioning before it leaves us.

This tractor runs very clean with excellent oil pressure and no cracks to the engine block or mixing of any fluids.

Out on the road it drives nicely, with a great presence, they are a big tractor weighing in at over 3 tonnes.

The tin work is original and in lovely condition and it is sat on a good set of tyres.

It comes complete with a current V5 and is ready to be enjoyed!
