David Brown VAK1A
Tamar Vintage Tractors - 1939 David Brown VAK1A
The David Brown VAK 1 tractor was first launched at the 100th Royal Show held at Windsor in 1939. It had a modified manifold that improved engine warm-up and was produced from 1945 to 1947, being superseded by the Cropmaster.
This 1946-built tractor is powered by a 35hp, overhead valve, four-cylinder, water-cooled petrol/paraffin engine. It has four forward gears and one reverse, together with independent brakes.
This tractor features electric start and the popular bench seat. It has been in a local collection for a number of years and was frequently used as a road run tractor.
Importantly, the engine block is frost-crack free. The tractor starts well from cold and drives nicely on the road with an excellent turn of speed.
The tinwork is tidy and presentable, and it sits on as new a set of tyres.
We have a current V5 and original buff logbook for it too.
