Tamar Vintage Tractors - Field Marshall 3A

This is a nice example of one of the last Field Marshalls produced, the 3A, finished in the attractive Fowler Orange livery. The Field Marshall Series 3A was the final development of the iconic single-cylinder design built by Marshalls of Gainsborough.

The Field Marshal 3A was produced between 1952 and 1956, with only 2,125 tractors built. Serial numbers ranged from 15207 to 17331, and this particular tractor, carrying serial number 16812, can be identified as a late production model.

The tractor comes from a private collection where it has stood for several years. It was soon started and now runs nicely. It is fitted with the correct pressurised cooling system and is filled with antifreeze, with no evidence of frost damage to the engine block.

The rear tyres are older Goodyears which show some age-related cracking but retain good tread. The tractor drives well on the road and idles smoothly.

The paintwork has flaked in a few areas and would benefit from some minor attention, although it remains presentable overall. All the tinwork is straight and free from rust.

Overall, this is a solid and desirable example of the classic Field Marshall.
