The tractor is an easy starter on the handle, having started numerous Marshalls over the years, I can confidently say this one starts very well and doesn’t die down to a stop when its going!

It runs very well and pulls well in all gears. The brakes are nice a responsive too.

The engine block is free from any frost damage and the numbers on the engine match the serial plate.

Field Marshalls are fitted with a very distinctive single cylinder diesel engine, with its 6.5’ piston and 9’ stoke they produced around 40Hp and where renowned for their fuel efficiency when driving a threshing drum.

These unique tractors are started either by hand or power start using a power cartridge.

The Series 3 Range featured a 3 speed, 2 range gearbox, improved brakes (over the Series 2) and the engine rotation was also changed. The earlier models run counterclockwise, whereas the 3’s all run clockwise.
