The Fordson 7V was one of Britain's most versatile and widely used trucks during the Second World War. It was fitted with a 3.6-litre Ford Flathead V8 engine and was used in various configurations, including as a cargo truck, fire engine, ambulance, and military vehicle.
 
This particular vehicle originally served as a fire engine. Several years ago, it underwent a restoration, during which time it was converted from its fire engine configuration back into a flatbed truck. The engine was also rebuilt and the truck was placed on display in a museum for many years. 
 
When the museum closed, the truck was placed into storage, where it remained for more than ten years. 
 
This truck has been recently recommisioned, it now starts easily and runs very well, with the distinctive sound that Flathead V8 engines are known for. The cab and bodywork remain in excellent condition and the flatbed is solid and well constructed.
 
Mechanically, the truck retains its original-style cable-operated brakes, which perform as expected for a vehicle of this age. The steering is heavy, as would be expected from a large 1940s truck without power steering. On the road, it drives well and is enjoyable to use - the four-speedcrash gearbox requires a little practice because it has no synchromesh, meaning the driver must double-declutch when changing gears. 
 
Overall, this is a wonderfully presented wartime Fordson7V that is ready to be used for shows, rallies, or historic vehicle events.
