Massey Ferguson 42

Here we have a model, not commonly found in the UK: a French-built Massey Ferguson 42.
 
The MF42 is an interesting crossover model. It features the same Perkins 3-cylinder diesel engine as the MF35 but is fitted with an MF65 rear axle with inboard disc brakes. Another unusual feature is the gearbox layout, with reverse gear positioned behind 1st rather than 3rd.
 
The tractor has been well restored and is a lovely example of something a little different.
 
The engine runs very well, and it drives nicely through all the gears. The brakes are good, and the PTO and hydraulics are all functioning correctly.
 
The paintwork is excellent throughout, and the tractor is finished off with a new set of tyres.
 
There is no V5 with this tractor, but it could be easily registered through a relevant owners’ club.
 
Overall, a lovely example, ready to be enjoyed.
