Now available from Tamar Vintage Tractors

As vintage show season approaches, few machines turn heads quite like this. We’re pleased to offer a rare and remarkable Hart-Parr 18-36, a nearly century-old tractor that remains in largely original condition—a true testament to its engineering and durability.
Manufactured in Charles City, Iowa, between 1926 and 1930, the Hart-Parr 18-36 was a serious workhorse in its day. This particular tractor is a 1927 H-series, confirmed by its serial plate. The H-series brought several key upgrades over the earlier G model. Visually, it retained the same striking silhouette but introduced an oval-shaped fuel tank that held an additional 12 gallons to power the slightly larger engine. The fenders were extended down to the floorboards, the platform itself was slightly enlarged, and the most important improvement was the introduction of a three-speed forward transmission, which offered better efficiency and control for the operator.

The name 18-36 refers to the tractor’s power ratings—18 horsepower at the drawbar and 36 horsepower at the belt drive—generated by an impressive 8.2-litre, two-cylinder engine. Despite its age, this machine runs and drives well, and has benefitted from some recent mechanical attention by its previous owner. It has been fitted with a new radiator, the magneto has been reconditioned, and a new kingpin has been installed on the front axle.

This Hart-Parr is being offered as an ongoing project, making it an excellent opportunity for anyone wanting to preserve a piece of early American agricultural history. With its strong presence and authentic patina, it would make a superb addition to any vintage tractor collection or a real crowd-pleaser at shows and rallies.
